4-H Cakes Project... Try Something New......If you are looking for a new and fun 4-H project, we have just the thing for you---"Cakes." This is a pilot project; however any leader or member may sign up. This project is under construction, but you can take it and provide feedback to help the State 4-H office make it a great project! Simply test recipes and return a pilot survey. This is a great project to increase your cake baking skills, and who knows it might lead to a great career! A class has been added at the State Fair where you can enter any of the cakes from the project book. So, of course, there will be a class for the project at the County Fair. This is not to be confused with the Cake Contest at the fair... "Cakes" is like any other baking project with specific recipes and techniques. The project will include information on butter cakes, sponge cakes, specialty cakes, and everyday cakes. There are some cake science activites and info on freezing and storing cakes. Charly would love to learn with and work with a group of about 10-15 brave members who are willing to help bring new projects like this one to New Mexico 4-H. Remember parents and club leaders you are always welcome to help and make suggestions. Call the Extension office for more info or read about it in the newsletter.
4-H Enrollment
May 1st is quickly approaching, so why do we care? Anyone who hasn't enrolled in 4-H in 2007 should care. Or anyone already enrolled who needs to add or drop a project for the year. Remember just because you signed up for 4-H back in 2004 and attend meetings doesn't mean you are enrolled in 2007. Invite a friend or two to join, and remember May 1st.
